Genesis Citi

Genesis Community IT Initiative (G-CITI) is an awarding winning non-profit organisation (NPO) and Public Benefit Organization (PBO) renowned for its contributions to skills development, digital inclusion and social innovation within the Western Cape region. With a core focus on addressing the digital divide, G-CITI has emerged as a leading force in promoting entry – level digital literacy, social innovation, entrepreneurship, and vocational digital skills programmes.

Since its establishment in 2014, G-CITI has made significant strides in transforming the lives of the beneficiaries and communities through its impactful digital initiatives. The organisation's flagship endeavour, the I-CAN Centre, has played host to 100,000 access to technology and digital services for citizens over the course of nine years, acting as a beacon of opportunity for digital inclusion.

At the heart of G-CITI's success is its diverse digital skills programmes has left an indelible mark on over 13,000 training opportunities in the lives of youth and citizens that graduated from its programmes. The organization's commitment to fostering innovation and knowledge is reflected in its collaborations with schools, resource centres, government agencies, private enterprises, and fellow non-profit organizations. G-CITI's holistic approach has permeated various sectors, catalysing positive change and setting the stage for a comprehensive digital transformation.

The newly Design Thinking Programme in Entrepreneurship has enabled G-CITI to participate within the entrepreneurial ecosystem to address the lack of innovation and opportunity amongst youth.
